Type of article: Article

Summary

THE PROBLEM OF CONTACT AND GAP RESISTANCE IN AN EXTRUDED BIMETALLIC FINNED TUBE IS ANALYSED. A NEW EXPERIMENTAL METHOD FOR DETERMINING THESE RESISTANCES IS PROPOSED. THE PROCEDURE IS PARTICULARLY ACCURATE IN THE CASE OF GOOD QUALITY TUBES IN WHICH THE CONTACT RESISTANCE IS DIFFICULT TO MEASURE BY MOST OTHER METHODS. IT FURTHERMORE TENDS TO HIGHLIGHT RESISTANCES IN POOR QUALITY TUBES. TEST RESULTS EMPLOYING THIS METHOD ARE COMPARED TO THEORETICAL PREDICTIONS AND DATA OBTAINED BY OTHER TEST EQUIPMENT.
