Analysis of chilled corn storage in the Midwest.

Summary

A model of the performance of a commercial grain chiller was developed and integrated into a grain aeration and storage system model. The main results of the tests with maize revealed that the ambient conditions significantly affect the airflow rate through the chiller, and that in order to preserve grain quality, chilled aeration is preferred over ambient aeration and no-aeration.
