Author(s) : LU S., CHEN B., CHEN D.

Summary

In an air-condition system, most of the electricity is consumed in operating the compressor. Therefore, developing a high efficiency compressor is necessary to increase the energy efficiency. To increase the efficiency of the PM motor, it is important to reduce the losses. The operating frequency of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) varies frequently, and so do its losses. In this paper, losses of motor at different frequencies were tested, and the experimental results were compared with the results of the engineering calculation. At last, the authors investigated the main factors which affect losses, and some guidelines for the reference design of the motor were drawn.
