Summary

The present article contains a review of the basic issues related to current compressor heat pumps regarding computational comparative cycle selection criteria. The current trends and directions of development were indicated of high temperature air heat pumps. Emphasis was placed on the designing of the cycles of modern high temperature compressor air heat pumps. The potential was discussed of the use of two-stage cycles and cascade cycles. Computational difficulties were referred to related to inter-stage temperature in the cascade cycle with two different refrigerants. The discussions covered state-of-the-art modified design solutions of spiral refrigeration compressors and the possibilities to use environment friendly prospective refrigerants.
