THE ARTICLE TABULATES AND DISCUSSES THE ADVANTAGES OF AMMONIA AS A REFRIGERANT COMPARED WITH THE NORMAL FLUOROCARBONS. THE EMPHASIS IS ON INDUSTRIAL PLANT AND SOME DISADVANTAGES ARE PLAYED DOWN. PERHAPS THE CURRENTLY MOST IMPORTANT POINT IS THAT IN THE EVENT OF CONSIDERABLE LEAKAGE, AMMONIA IS BIODEGRADABLE AND WILL NOT HARM THE ENVIRONMENT. D.W.H.
