Application of a novel compact exchanger/absorber in a high temperature absorption heat transformer cycle.

Summary

A compact absorber/heat exchanger has been designed for and incorporated into a high temperature absorption heat transformer. The absorber incorporated several novel features to maximise the temperature lift and the energy efficiency of the cycle. Since process heat integration is now commonly used in industry, this cycle would be useful for operating across the temperature "pinch" point in heat integrated systems. As well as modifying the cycle design, ectensive research was undertaken to find new working fluid mixtures suitable for high temperature operation. The ASPEN + computer package was used to identify potential fluid mixtures.
