APPLICATION OF A SQUID MAGNETOMETER FOR THE MEASUREMENT OF THERMOELECTRIC EMF'S AT LIQUID HELIUM TEMPERATURE.

UTILISATION D'UN MAGNETOMETRE A EFFET JOSEPHSON POUR LA MESURE DE FEM THERMOELECTRIQUES AUX TEMPERATURES DE L'HELIUM LIQUIDE.

Author(s) : DOMBLIDES J. P.

Summary

WHEN USING A SQUID OPERATED IN THE FLUX-LOCKED LOOP CONFIGURATION AS A VOLTMETER, CONTINUITY OF THE MEASUREMENTS REQUIRES NOT TO UNLOCK THE LOOP. THEN CONSIDERABLE CARE SHOULD BE DEVOTED TO MINIMIZE SPURIOUS FIELD FLUCTUATIONS. THE AUTHOR WAS UNABLE TO FULFIL THE REQUIRED CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ROUTINE MEASUREMENTS OF THERMOELECTRIC EMF'S DIRECTLY IN A HELIUM CONTAINER. HE PRESENTS A SIMPLE METHOD WHICH HAS BEEN WORKED OUT IN ORDER TO RECOVER ACCURATE MEASUREMENTS UNDER ADVERSE CONDITIONS.
