Summary

The application of chilled surfaces for comfort cooling is widely accepted in continental Europe and the United Kingdom but is not so well known or applied in other parts of the world. There are signs of increasing interest in the USA and Australia. Environmentally sustainable design, specifically in the form of energy efficiency and indoor environment quality, are the main drivers for investigating hydrid and alternative solutions and the adoption of chilled technology for appropriate projects. This paper addresses the use of this technology generally in the commercial office environment but its application is not limited in this regard. The technology has been used in office, retail, hotel, industrial and other facilities.
