Summary

The present study is intended to produce a systematic methodology for the synthesis and design optimization of a building energy system (BES) that provides space cooling, space heating and domestic hot water. The newly developed methods of exergoenvironmental analysis and exergoeconomic analysis are applied and integrated. The objective of the methodology is to minimize the summation of annual product exergy cost and environmental cost. A BES in middle China is designed by selecting the appropriate technology and equipments from the candidates by applying the presented methodology. Our results demonstrate that scheme 5 (ground heat pump + floor panel + heat pump) is the best one based on exergy analysis, scheme 6 (air source heat pump + floor panel + heat pump) is the best one based on exergoenvironmental analysis, scheme 7 (ground heat pump + floor panel + city heat network) is the best one based on both exergoeconomic analysis and integrated methodology. The comparison results show that the optimal design scheme is quite sensitive to the evaluation criteria.
