Type of article: Article

Summary

The author developed icicle prevention in railway tunnels by adiabatic treatment of the lining surface. A method of optimizing materials and thickness of the heat insulator is proposed, along with some design conditions such as the width of the heat insulator, the effect of earth covering and snow deposits and the influence of margin length of the heat insulator, based on thermal analysis of a one-or two-dimensional nonsteady-state heat convection-conduction tunnel-ground model.
