PRIOR TO THE RECENT HVAC RETROFIT THE MONTCLAIR ART MUSEUM WAS NOT AIR CONDITIONED. THE PRESENT BUILDING HAS A DESIGN COOLING LOAD OF 75 TONS ; THE PROPOSED EXPANSION WILL ADD ANOTHER 75 TONS. AN ABSORPTION CHILLER-HEATER WAS SELECTED TO PROVIDE CONTROLLED TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY TO PROTECTTHE PAINTINGS AND OTHER EXHIBITS FROM FLUCTUATING TEMPERATURE/HUMIDITY CONDITIONS. A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SYSTEM IS GIVEN TOGETHER WITH DIAGRAMS SHOWING THE CHILLING AND HEATING CYCLES. E.W.S.
