Assessment of HFC143a as an alternative of HCFC22 and R502.

Author(s) : BHADURI S. C.

Summary

In the paper, the thermodynamic assessment of R143a as an alternative of R22 and R502 has been done. The computation of various parameters has been done for evaporator temperatures of -40 to 0 deg C and condenser temperatures of 35 to 45 deg C. Mass flow rates of R143a are more than that of R22 and less than that of R502. The pressure ratios of R143a fall in between R22 and R502 at all condenser and evaporator temperatures. The COP of R143a is better than that of R22 and of R502 at -40 deg C. However, the COP of R22 is better than that of R143a at all other evaporator temperatures.
