Summary
The mass of the refrigerant contained in a refrigerating installation is an important data item. In reality, it is more difficult to calculate the quantity of charge where the charge is two-phase than where the charge is single-phase (in other parts of the installation). The authors propose a simple method of evaluating the mean void fraction of two-phase flow in a uniform section of piping in an evaporator.
