Back to basics: duct design fundamentals.
Author(s) : BROOKS P. J.
Type of article: Article
Summary
This article is a reprint from ASHRAE Journal, April 1995, published on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Journal. The author states that designing duct systems must start with an understanding of how pressure losses are calculated and combined and that after the initial design of a system, it still must be analyzed for acoustics, heat transfer, duct construction, allowable leakage and proper installation. After installation the system should be checked to ensure leakage is within allowable specifications and that the system is balanced.
