Summary

THE EFFECTS OF REFRIGERATION AND NITROGEN ATMOSPHERE DURING STORAGE OF ARGENTINE WHEATS WERE INVESTIGATED ON A LABORATORY SCALE. COLD TREATMENT AND PARTIAL ANOXIA ESPECIALLY FAVOURED THE STABILITY OF GRAINS OF HIGH MOISTURE CONTENT. FUNGAL CONTAMINANTS WERE ALSO DETERMINED. GERMINATIVE CAPACITY DECREASED AND THE ELECTROPHORETIC PATTERN OF GERM PROTEINS CHANGED AS THE NUMBER OF MICRO-ORGANISMS INCREASED.
