Boiling heat transfer correlation for carbon dioxide.

Summary

For this investigation, Bredesen's experimental data and six existing correlations (Chen, Bennett-Chen, Gungor-Winston, Shah, Schrock-Grossman, and Liu-Winterton's correlations) are compared. These correlations except Bennett-Chen's correlations can not be applied to carbon dioxide due to the different thermophysical properties of carbon dioxide from conventional fluids which satisfy these correlations reasonably. A modified Bennett-Chen correlation is suggested, that agrees well with Bredesen's experimental data over a wide range of mass flux and heat flux. Therefore, more detailed investigation is required with the integration of a wide range of experimental data.
