Boiling heat transfer of liquid nitrogen in mini- and micro-scale configurations.

Author(s) : ZHANG P.

Summary

The application of liquid nitrogen for cooling is widely used in many cases, in which good thermal performance and stability should be maintained. The miniaturizing of the devices requires the compact design of the cooling configurations, which needs well-understanding the flow and heat transfer characteristics of liquid nitrogen in mini- and even micro-scale dimensions. In this paper, the author reviews the recent experimental results about the boiling heat transfer of liquid nitrogen in mini- and micro-scale configurations, including rectangular channels and circular tubes, which are obtained at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
