Selected parameters of boiling heat exchanger surfaces and related micro-gravitational acceleration influence.

Summary

Numerous boiling studies in the past have clarified details of complex phase transition phenomena involving vaporization of liquid on a macro-scale. The continuous operation of micro-gravity systems, e.g. space station, requires additional knowledge of a switch from "1-gravitational acceleration" to micro-gravity as far as long-term boiling conditions are concerned. The authors consider basic quantities, such as characteristic lenghts, the vapour removal kinematics and dynamics. A flight micro-g experiment of short duration is reported.
