Heat and mass transfer analysis and numerical simulation between liquid nitrogen and water.

Author(s) : GU X. M., SHU S. M.

Summary

This article analyses the necessity of draining the cryogenic liquid directly underwater. And it describes the process characteristics of heat and mass transfer between the cryogenic liquid and water under normal and supercritical pressure. The mathematical and physical models are established and numerically simulated by FLUENT for the first time. The results not only show the temperature field and mass field of the cryogenic liquid but also the duration distance of the cryogenic liquid. The experiment, draining the liquid nitrogen directly into water under normal pressure, has been conducted. The experimental data testify the validity of the simulation results commendably. The research results may provide a theoretical basis and method for promptly draining the cryogenic liquid, phase transition and the techniques of heat and mass transfer.
