Building classes and their influence on cooling load.

Summary

The paper outlines the high driving potential method, an easily understood, logical and scientifically rigorous design procedure, which has been developed at the University of Adelaide, and introduces a "Design matrix" from which initial estimates of plant configuration, coil sizes, first cost, operating cost and psychrometric performance characteristics can be made for any building type in any climatic region. In the paper the authors discuss a matrix to lead design covering seven classes of building and seven climatic regions and illustrate it by reference to "typical" office buildings in Adelaide and Bangkok.
