Building energy consumption: diagnosis.

Le diagnostic énergétique d'un bâtiment.

Type of article: Periodical article

Summary

Improving energy efficiency in buildings leads to major energy savings in developing countries, given the share buildings represent in the commercial energy demand of these countries (around 30% of total electricity consumption in West Africa). Managers often consider energy expenditure as a fixed cost which they can not influence. However, adapted energy use and control techniques make it possible to achieve annual savings of about 10 to 15% in tertiary sector buildings (banks, insurance company premises, hotels, office buildings). In developing countries, it is not unusual to find potential savings of about 30% on the energy bill! The updating and management of the potential savings always begin with energy diagnosis, whose principles and stages are presented in this sheet.
