CALCULATING THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF R134A ON A MICROCOMPUTER.

Author(s) : BARRET M., CANDAU Y.

Summary

FOLLOWING THE EVER-SPREADING BAN ON THE USE OF CFCS, THEIR SUBSTITUTION BY NEW REFRIGERANTS IN EXISTING PROCESSES IS BECOMING MORE IMPORTANT. BASIC DATA FOR THESE NEW REFRIGERANTS ARE ALREADY AVAILABLE IN THE LITERATURE. AFTER A BRIEF REVIEW OF THE GENERAL METHODS USED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NUMERICAL SOFTWARE FOR THE CALCULATION OF THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES, THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THE IMPLEMENTATIONOF THE NEW DATA FOR R134A IN THE SOFTWARE, AND MAKE USE OF ITS COMPUTING CAPABILITIES TO ESTABLISH CHARTS OF SELDOM AVAILABLE DATA SUCH AS SOUND VELOCITY OR ISENTROPIC COEFFICIENT. A COMPARISON OF THE SAME DATA FOR R12 PROVIDES SOME INSIGHT INTO THE PROBLEM OF THE FLUID SUBSTITUTION.
