Summary

Producers of perishable foods, especially quick frozen foods, have already opted for quality in their investments. As transport becomes a component of the resulting product, it must do the same. Steps for quality processes are outlined. The ISO 9002 standard is generally chosen as a reference and the AFAQ (Association Française pour l'Assurance Qualité) has designed an interpretation guide applied to transport of goods. Steps of certification are then described, along with the details of the elements necessary in order to put into effect some sensitive points of the standard. In conclusion, various effects of quality processes are given: on security, profitability and competitivity, development of customer loyalty, breaking into new markets, how insurance premiums have changed, and the amelioration of relations between employees.
