CFC ALTERNATIVES: RECENT INFORMATION CONCERNING COSTS AND EFFICIENCY.

Author(s) : STATT T. G.

Summary

THE PAPER PROVIDES GREATER INSIGHT INTO THE ECONOMIC AND EFFICIENCY TRADE-OFFS OF LEADING CFC ALTERNATIVES FOR MANY AIR CONDITIONING AND REFRIGERATION PROCESSES. THE APPLICATIONS INVESTIGATED ARE HOUSEHOLD REFRIGERATORS AND FREEZERS, CENTRIFUGAL CHILLERS, COMMERCIAL REFRIGERATION AND INDUSTRIAL REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS. COMPARISONS OF EFFICIENCY AND COSTS BETWEEN THE LEADING ALTERNATIVES ARE PRESENTED. TECHNICAL ISSUES WHICH PREVENT THE WIDESPREAD USE OF THESE HIGHLY-EFFICIENT NON-CFC TECHNOLOGIES ARE DISCUSSED.
