Summary

This paper deals with the ozone depletion and the CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) issues as they affect the air conditioning and refrigeration industry. The past, the current and the future will be covered with respect to regulations and industry standards for cleanliness of refrigerants. Two ad hoc committees of the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) were formed in January 1987: one to address the CFC regulations and the other to address the acceptable level of contaminants in refrigerants. This Paper will summarize the workings of the second committee.
