Summary

Thanks to large investments in equipment, Chile's production capacity of frozen fruit and vegetables has grown from 26,500 tonnes per year in 1985 to 150,000 tonnes today. One fifth of the frozen products are exported. Among exports, asparagus led the vegetables, and raspberries led the fruits. From 1988 to 1990 the United States took 21.2 % of the exports, followed by Germany, with 14.9 %.
