Summary

THE ANALYSIS OF THESE COOLING WATERS SHOWS THAT THE GENERATION OF MUTAGENS MAY OCCUR FOR ORIGINAL CHLORINE CONCENTRATIONS HIGHER THAN 250 PPM. THE CHLORINE PRESENT IN WATER IS RAPIDLY REMOVED BUT MAY INDUCE THE FORMATION OF CHLORINATED COMPOUNDS. THE RESULTS ARE DISCUSSED IN ORDER TO REDUCE CARCASS CONTAMINATION. (Bibliogr. int.
