Number: pap. n. 1870

Author(s) : RINGSTAD K., ALLOUCHE Y., GULLO P., et al.

Summary

This paper presents the current status of CFD modelling applied to CO2 two-phase ejectors for refrigeration applications. Previous reviews on CO2 ejector technology have provided detailed analysis and thorough discussion about the optimal design and performance parameters. However, there is still a lack of information about CFD modelling of CO2 ejectors, mainly when it comes to the accuracy of the two-phase ejector models. The ultimate goal of this paper is to provide a complete overview about CFD modelling of two-phase CO2 ejectors for refrigeration applications, as mainly analytical approaches were previously discussed. The fundamental background for the research work carried out within CO2 two-phase modelling using CFD is presented through this review. Moreover, it highlights the main challenges that are still needed to be overcome mainly related to turbulence modelling, fluid properties and 3D-effects in multi-phase flows.
