Summary
A heat pipe system using CO2 as a working fluid has been investigated. The refrigeration cascade consists of the earth probe in which CO2 is evaporated, and the "probe-head" which is both the CO2-condenser and the refrigerant-evaporator of the heat pump. Experimental analysis confirms that the proposed CO2 heat pipe is a reliable and highly efficient system as well as being environmentally friendly.
