Type of article: Article
Summary
Several applications for heat pumps with CO2 as the working fluid exist. Heat pump water heaters are of special interest, because of the optimum fit of the CO2 process to the water heating process. This results in a high efficiency and allows hot water production up to 90°C without any operational problems. The paper deals with some principle characteristics of the CO2 heat pump cycle and discusses realized and potential applications.
