Cold Chain Energy Efficiency in India. Analysis of energy efficiency opportunities in packhouses.

Summary

Compiled by Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) and commissioned by the World Bank Group, in collaboration with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), our report ‘Cold Chain Energy Efficiency in India: Analysis of Energy Efficiency Opportunities in Pack-Houses’ proposes policy and regulatory options for BEE to incorporate energy efficiency practices into the design, development, operation, and maintenance of pack-houses. With the government’s accelerated plans to develop several thousand pack-houses across the country, within the larger umbrella of positive agricultural transformation in India, there is an opportunity to incorporate energy efficiency in the upcoming pack-house infrastructure.
In the first of its kind assessment, the report proposes recommendations based on the analysis of 25+ pack-houses, catering to different varieties of fruits and vegetables and located across major agro-climatic zones in India.
