Summary
In the internet era, data and indexes are used for multiples purposes: energy efficiency, quality control and optimization of processes, among others. In this context, cold rooms can also benefit from such driving vectors. The aim of this paper is to present a technology platform able to provide these benefits. Until recently, cold-rooms have been scarcely monitored and optimized. Precisely, this task has been historically difficult due to technical obstacles/costs when connecting multiple devices/locations and due to lack of applied indexes (able to convert data into information), among others. Nowadays, the advent of internet and cost-effective IoT technologies allow to access the information of millions of devices, cold-rooms among them. This paper presents an application/ technology platform able to create smart applied indexes assessing cold-room efficiency, storage conditions and the impact of the storage on the products: relative weight loss and shelf-life in commercial cases, showing interesting benefits for refrigeration stakeholders.
