Summary

A survey was carried out of the location, capacity, type, age, insulation and utilization of cold stores in Pakistan. Most of the stores were built to store potatoes. Many store managers paid insufficient attention to air circulation in the stores, and some stores were overloaded. There was inadequate knowledge of storage temperature requirements; precoolers were rare. Temperature and humidity requirements for storage of a variety of fruit and vegetable crops, eggs and meat are tabulated and results of the survey are presented by region.
