Colossal magnetoresistance manganese oxides.
Author(s) : RENARD J. P.
Type of article: Article
Summary
Certain manganese oxides possess remarkable, closely-linked structural, magnetic and electrical properties conferred by the mixed valency of manganese ions. In particular, certain compositions have very marked negative magnetoresistance, often called colossal magnetoresistance (CMR). A few important physical aspects of these oxides and the CMR resistance are presented and illustrated, and potential applications of thin films are reviewed.
