Summary
The paper discusses the possibility of integrating absorption cooling into district heating and small, local district heating systems for air conditioning purposes. An analysis of this arrangement in the Graz (Austria) district heating system, from the standpoints of economics, energy consumption, exergy and environmental impact, is presented. The limitations of absorption and compression refrigerating systems are demonstrated.
