Summary

The paper demonstrates the power of CFD in demonstrating the effectiveness of ventilation solutions for a hospital ward and operating theatre. For the ward, the CFD analysis has demonstrated that comfort conditions and hygiene can be improved over a conventional overhead air conditioning system by implementing a displacement ventilation system. For the operating theatre, two ventilation concepts have been modelled to demonstrate the effect of supply air diffusion on room temperature profile, air velocity, occupant breath diffusion and skin shedding.
