Comparative performance prediction of orifice type pulse tube refrigerator.

Summary

Some important advancements have been achieved during last 8 to 10 years in the field of pulse tube refrigerator (PTR) as one of the non-conventional refrigeration systems. The thermodynamic of PTR is not well understood even till today and validated analytical work on it appears to be the need of the time. Orifice pulse tube refrigerator (OPTR) is the further development on PTR. An attempt is made in the paper to predict the performance characteristics of OPTR and critically compare the same with linearly driven Stirling cryocooler.
