Comparative study of the thermodynamic properties of four oils mixed with propylene (R1270).

Author(s) : FEJA S., PUHL C.

Summary

The thermodynamic properties of four oils mixed with propylene were investigated. The study includes the measurement of the density by the tending vibration method, the determination of the vapour pressure with a static measuring apparatus and the investigation of the dynamic viscosity with a rotation viscosimeter. The investigations were carried out with polyolesters according to the regulation ISO VG 100 and 220, one polyalphaolefin and one mineral oil both according to the regulation ISO VG 100. The investigated mixtures of the refrigerator oils with R1270 ranged from 100 to 70 wt% for the polyolester oils. The concentration of the polyalphaolefine and the mineral oil in the investigated mixtures were 80 wt%. For these concentrations, a complete miscibility of the oils and the refrigerant was observed. The mixtures of refrigerator oils with refrigerants are compared and their suitability for refrigerating machines and possible applications are discussed.
