Summary
The tests carried out on R502 and R404A made it possible to highlight changes in evaporation and condensation pressure and temperature. Using R404A, both refrigerating capacity and COP were improved when using reciprocating compressors. Use of R404A and the twin-screw compressor increased significantly the refrigerating capacity while decreasing the COP. 2,000 hours of operation with R404A on each compressor did not reveal any particular difficulties with the use of this fluid.
