Summary
The inadequacy of components has been one of the difficulties of using natural refrigerants such as hydrocarbons, CO2 or ammonia in the field of commercial refrigeration. At the request of AKB (Authorised Refrigeration Installers Association) and the Danish Association of Refrigeration, the Danish Technological Institute wrote to all refrigeration wholesalers in autumn 2001 and February/March 2002 in order to compile a list of components available for commercial refrigeration. All responded and the responses showed that many components have been developed and marketed. Danfoss has introduced a large number of components for propane (R290), isobutane (R600a) and CO2 (subcritical use), and other refrigeration wholesalers also have a number of components. The article specifies the available components.
