Compressor and expansion machines for use in air cycles.
Author(s) : SICARS S., ENGELKING S., KRUSE H.
Summary
The paper describes the characteristics that good air compressors must have and reviews the various types of related machines that one can find on the market. Piston, scroll, rotary and centrifugal, and axial compressors are examined. Possible flow rates and pressures are indicated for each type. The possibility of using those compressors as expansion turbines are also evoked.
