Summary

COMPRESSORS DESIGNED AND MANUFACTURED FOR APPLICATION IN CONVENTIONAL REFRIGERATING SYSTEMS CANNOT COPE WITH ALL REQUIREMENTS OF HEAT PUMP SYSTEMS, BEFORE ALL OWING TO GENERALLY HIGHER AND MORE VARYING EVAPORATION AND CONDENSING TEMPERATURES. THE PRINCIPAL LIMITING FACTOR IS VAPOUR TEMPERATURE AT THE END OF COMPRESSION. SEVERAL SPECIMENS OF GRAPHICALLY EXPRESSED CHARACTERISTICS OUTLINING THE COMPRESSORS APPLICATION FIELD AND SOME ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS FOR HEAT PUMP COMPRESSORS ARE QUOTED. A QUICK EXPANSION OF ROTARY PISTON COMPRESSORS HAS BEEN OBSERVED IN LAST YEARS.
