Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA) studies of flow through a plate valve.

Author(s) : TRAMSCHEK A. B., NASR A.

Summary

For many years compressor designers have utilised the results gained from steady state tests on valve assemblies to assist in compressor design processes and have employed various analytical models derived from experimental programmes. The paper reports a continuation of this process, in that results derived from computational studies involving the PHOENICS CFD code were able to be compared with experimental results based on conventional pressure measurements and LDA velocity measurements.
