THE NON-SPECIFICATION BEHAVIOUR OF CENTRIFUGAL WATER CHILLERS IS INVESTIGATED. THE CONCLUSIONS REACHED ARE MAINLY BASED ON CALCULATIONS PERFORMED BY THE COMPUTER PROGRAMS DEVELOPED FOR THE PROJECT. A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE INFLUENCE OF THE CHILLER OPERATING PARAMETERS WILL ENABLE DESIGNERS TO OPTIMIZE PART-DUTY OPERATION DURING THE SPECIFICATION PHASE AND ENABLE OPERATORS TO IMPROVE THE RUNNING OF EXISTING INSTALLATIONS.
