Summary

Main components of ammonia refrigerating plants, as compressors, condensers, evaporators and oil and liquid separators are analyzed for their structural features, as compared to the components of CFC refrigerating plants. The following were considered as most important criteria for the differences: the behaviour of corrosion against typical structural materials, the thermic and thermo-physical properties, non-mixibility with lubricating oil for refrigerating compressors and, toxicity and combustibility of the refrigerant and their influences.
