Containment of refrigeration installations

Confinement des installations frigorifiques.

Author(s) : CAZAURIAN X., HUCHET A., HERMON C., et al.

Summary

Since 2003, Cetim handles projects in cooperation with industrial partners in refrigeration and air conditioning with the aim of helping them improve air containment in their systems. This article deals with the setting up of processes and standards, laboratory tests, on-site measurements and their results. The applications are the containment of HFC/HCFC or CO2 systems. The 3 main steps in the projects are: a) defining testing procedures in cooperation with the industrial clients; b) testing the tightness of components according to these procedures; and c) detecting and measuring real leaks. Several tools that the industrial stakeholders can use are the result of these studies: standards, tests set up according to these standards (with "tightness certificates"), software for tightness monitoring and a best-practice guide for refrigerant leak detection. This article is a PowerPoint presentation.
