Summary

FULLY MODULATING DRIVES TO ALL COMPRESSORS ARE NOW POSSIBLE THROUGH THE USE OF INVERTERS, AND IN THE SYSTEM DESCRIBED THE INVERTER CAN BE CONTROLLED TO OFFER THE BEST COMBINATION OF FREQUENCY AND VOLTAGE TO OBTAIN THE STARTING TORQUE REQUIRED AT ANY CAPACITY. SUCH A SYSTEM CAN BE USED WITH PROPORTIONAL PLUS INTEGRAL CONTROL TO GIVE MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY, AND CAN ALSO COPE WITH THE STEP REQUIREMENT OF A MULTI-COMPRESSOR SYSTEM. FOR OPTIMUM OPERATION IT IS NECESSARY TO USE EXPANSION VALVES WHICH CAN OPERATE WITH REDUCED CONDENSING PRESSURES. THE CONTROLLER ALSO INCORPORATES ALL SAFETY ELEMENTS AND ANY REQUIRED MONITORING OR FAULT COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. D.W.H.
