Control of Legionella in small evaporative condensers: a risk management approach.
Author(s) : BROADBENT C., BENTHAM R.
Type of article: Article
Summary
For those systems serving applications needing cooling during daytime hours only, a new approach is described in this article. It involves fitting a motorised valve at the mains water makeup line and a similar valve on the drain. At the end of daily operations the water in the system is dumped by opening the dump valve. At the same time the makeup valve is closed and the system water is not replenished. The cooling fan continues in operation for a timed period (say, 30 minutes) before complete shutdown to assist in drying the inside surfaces of the system.
