Summary

PASCAL CELERY WAS STORED 29 DAYS AT 274.5 K (1.5 DEG C) UNDER A NORMAL ATMOSPHERE WITH 80% RH AND 128 DAYS AT MEDIUM CONCENTRATIONS OF CO2 + O2 OF 0.8 + 17.7, 2.0 + 12.6 AND 4.0% + 9.2%, WITH A RH NEAR SATURATION. THE FIRST TWO CO2 AND O2 COMBINATIONS WERE THE MOST SUITABLE, WITH TOTAL WEIGHT LOSSES LOWER THAN 30 AND 23%, RESPECTIVELY. CLEAN CUT CELERY WAS STORED AT 274.5 K UNDER A NORMAL ATMOSPHERE WITH 80% RH AND UNDER CONTROLLED ATMOSPHERE (1.1 + 14.8, 2.3 + 7.9 AND 3.2% CO2 + 5.5% O2 ) OVER 62 AND 71 DAYS, RESPECTIVELY. TOTAL WEIGHT LOSSES WERE 25% UPON AN AVERAGE AND NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE WAS OBSERVED. THE LOSSES WERE MAINLY DUE TO BACTERIAL INFECTION.
