Controlling noise of refrigeration equipment in neighbourhood retail.

Author(s) : LAMY S., POYSAT P.

Summary

Environmental noise has become a serious social issue that has led to a wide variety of contentious situations. It is particularly true for refrigeration applications where kitchen equipment or compressor packs are often the source of disturbing noise in neighbourhood and urban areas. EU and regional noise legislation is being developed to define the limits for sound pollution for the benefit of those living in the vicinity of food retailers and food service companies. The presented sound shell is an efficient solution to significantly reduce the compressor air borne noise at a reasonable cost and without affecting the operational capabilities of the compressor. The design allows installation on the production line of OEMs and can be used to resolve sound issue in aftermarket.
